| Dear Families, Welcome to our second and third grade combination class! I am really excited about this year! I look forward to an year filled with science, math, and of course, reading! There is a world of possibilities with this age children. I particularly love having a multi-age class where children work together yet are able to stretch to their own potential. It is an advantage for both the younger child who observes and the older child who shows the way. We are fortunate to have some children with us from last year, and welcome the new personalities joining us. Please feel free to contact me through the school in the afternoons, or by email

A homework packet and a parent letter from me will be sent home each Monday. The homework is due in class Friday morning. Please provide a paper pocket folder for your child to carry the papers to and from school.
Homework is an important way for children to extend what they learn in the classroom and a valuable way for parents to connect to what we are studying. Please help as your child needs it, but first allow time for him/her to "puzzle through" to understanding rather than give a ready answer. It is through his/her process of thinking it through that the concepts and skills solidify. |
Please continue to read to your child and to listen to him/her read at least ten minutes nightly . Math homework will be part of the packet sent home each Monday. Spelling homework will be part of the packet sent home each Monday.
